Christmas Craft Materials
Christmas Craft Materials: Top Craft Materials
By Sirena Van Schaik
Every craft has its own set of supplies that you need to create them. We have crafts that use thread, crafts that use wire, and crafts that use paint. When it comes to Christmas Crafts, you can use just about everything, regardless of the type of craft, and that usually means that as a crafter, you will need a large number of supplies to complete them.
When it comes to being a crafter, there are always a number of items that you will use on a regular basis. My preferred craft is usually stamping so I know that I will probably use a stamp and stamp ink at one point or another. For others, it might be making beautiful ornaments so you know that you will be using a wide range of paints and embellishments. It seems like there is never an end but somehow, after wading through aisles upon aisles of Christmas materials, I have been able to compile a list of top craft materials you should have on hand this holiday season.
Glitter:
This is a definite must when you are creating your own Christmas crafts. Glitter is used for almost all of the Christmas crafts that you make, including cards and the holiday season is often greeted with hundreds of women walking around with glitter on their hands and faces for the weeks leading up to the big day.
Glitter can be a pretty big pain but it does provide a wonderful finish to many holiday crafts.
Ribbon:
Okay, not everything uses ribbon and I have actually created crafts without using any ribbon at all. It seemed strange but the end result was ruined because there was a lack of ribbon to it. Still, I love having a bit of ribbon available around the house. If I don’t use the festive ribbon for a craft, I know that I will use it for wrapping up those beautiful gifts and I can add a lot of finishing touches to the package just by having the right type of ribbon available.
Greenery:
This is another material that you aren’t going to use for everything but it makes a nice addition to many crafts. You can dress up the top of the ornament with a little sprig of ivy and berries or you can create whole centerpieces with evergreen branches. You can even embellish a wrapping by using evergreens and berries.
Paint:
A number of Christmas crafts rely on paint to bring them from plain to breathtaking. I often recommend having a number of metallic paints available so you have a wide range of colors, shades and finishes to choose from.
Odds and Ends:
This is a craft must for me regardless of the season but I find that having a bunch of odds and ends gathered throughout the year is the best way to have a complete supply of odds and ends. It is always surprising how many things you can make with those odds and ends. Examples of odds and ends can be buttons, pom-poms, scraps of materials and beads.
And there are just a few of the Christmas craft materials that all Christmas crafters should have on hand. I know everyone is different so if you have a few items that you would love to add to this list, please feel free to share them.
